Fearlessness is on my mind. I Tim. 1:6- says …fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. I have heard it said many times, “Do it afraid.” And, I have done so many things afraid in my lifetime. I have probably done more things afraid than I have without fear. But, now, I am considering the possibility of living on a level where you do things with NO FEAR. Is it possible? Well, we know that God hasn’t given us the spirit of fear (timidity). So, where does it come from? The bible is clear that is doesn’t come from God, so it comes from another source other than the source of all life, power and victory. I believe the enemy of our souls works effectively through fear and our minds can keep the power of fear alive in us. So, why not believe that we can do things courageously, confidently and unwaveringly as we put our trust in the God who is unwavering in His promises to us. After all, doesn’t the bible say that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us? Either we believe it, or we don’t.

One more thing that is interesting to me about I Tim. 1:7 is that it mentions God has given us the spirit of love, power & self-discipline. I have often wondered, why would self-discipline be mentioned in this scripture? Could it be that our thoughts contribute so strongly to the level of fear we experience? We think of all the things that could go wrong, all the things that will not be right, all of the worst case scenarios that have yet to happen and this gives fear power over us. But it takes SELF-DISCIPLINE to bring those thoughts into captivity and refuse them when they come. Will they always come? Perhaps always, but can we discipline our minds to not meditate on the bad, horrible and worst case scenarios? Of course we can. That is why the bible says we should cast down vain imaginations and bring every thought into captivity and under the obedience of Christ ( or something like that LOL) I have to get the exact scripture…but you know what I mean?

Why should we live our entire lives in bondage to fear? Yes, there may be valid reasons to be afraid, but God’s power in us is an even more valid reason to live a life free from fear. How about it? Let’s embark upon a journey of learning how to live a life free from fear…FEARLESSLY.
